2012-12-24 thru 2013-02-28 Foley-Gulf Shores Alabama Part 3

 USS Alabama
What a Grand ol' Lady
Remember many a night seeing the B52 Stratofortress
in my younger days
Sounded like the humm from a swarm of hornets

In Viet Nam I had to dig the dud rounds from these guns out of the ground
Sometimes 20 ft below ground
Fortunately there were very few duds
Most went Ka-boom

 Soviet MIG
Hard to beat and thankfully they were kept out of battle because they had so few of them

Now they make me feel a little claustrophobic

2012-12-24 thru 2013-02-28 Foley-Gulf Shores Alabama Part 2

Charley Nelson was a teacher for many years in the Foley area
At Karaoke shows the KJ would ask for a show of hands if Charley had ever been their teacher
It was always nearly the entire room
Diana Parker - Dunkin our gracious hostess
Bud Parker (who only sang in private) and Joe Frank Dunkin who was awesome as Frank Sinatra
 Susy Rene and Diana
Great Friends
 Charley Bud and Hal
Hal and I were in Viet Nam about the same time and place
We shared stories and had lots of laughs
 Diana on stage

Did I mention we tried to get outside as much as possible
I have to admit it was better weather than the kids were seeing back in Kansas City

No snow but it was pretty cool out
No its not a Dolphin but it was still interesting

2012-12-24 thru 2013-02-28 Foley-Gulf Shores Alabama Part 1

Way late getting these pictures up
Better late I guess ... At least I will have a memory aid

Christmas in Anchors Away RV Resort 2012
It didn't rain ALL the time
We definitely saw habitat that we had never seen before

Including the Mardi Gras Museum in Mobile AL
I always thought New Orleans was the birthplace of Mardi Gras
but it actually is Mobile.  They have kept theirs family oriented and so you
don't hear anything about it in the news

All the surrounding towns have their own Mardi Gras parade
Here are some pics from the Foley parade

On the right of this pic is Charley Nelson
An awesome guy we met at karaoke one night
Charley and Rene invited us to sit at their table and we developed a deep friendship
with them and Bud  & Diana Parker
& Joe Frank Dunkin (Diana's Brother)
More pics on that later !!

These were the participants in the parade from our RV Park
