2009 HHAI Rally in Du Quoin Illinois

We are Chapter 33 the Haulin' Hitchhikers of HHAI (Hitch Hikers of America International) and they know how to have fun. We had our annual business meeting followed by a Pot Luck dinner. Man o man !! This was a feast fit for Kings and of course the Queens.

We arrived Sunday Sept 27th in Du Quoin IL after spending 2 days in Babler State Park in Chesterfield MO just SW of St Louis (Yes we wusses waited out the rain). It has rained alot and the Fairgrounds are soaking wet.

Chapter 33 of HHAI volunteered for parking duty (minus US the unretireded). They did a Fabulous job and I tip my hat to them especially Bill Teetz who did not get us stuck :p

I felt bad for them with the elelments fighting them but they stuck it out and did a bang up job of it.
The rally was kicked off on Monday evening and was full off events and exciting get togethers all the way to Friday morning when we said our fond farewells.

Unfortunately Greg and Judy are experiencing Found On the Road Dead syndrome with their 6.0 diesel and are staying behind a couple of weeks in Carbondale for repairs. We know they are distressed over it but they never let it show!

Hope this is the beginning of trouble free travel for our friends.
Here are some other fond memories that we will have a long time.

Sudden Storm near our house June 23rd 2009

We heard the pitter patter of rain on the RV roof and then the weather alert radio came on warning of severe storms in our area and then shear winds of 90mph. All within a few minutes. Didn't even have time to wonder if we should take shelter. Welcome to Missouri !!
The pictures aren't too bad for a cell phone. We took them about 30 minutes later at a nearby RV park in Liberty MO.

A long time since posting. Here are a few recent pics May 09
Our fellow Haulin' Hitchkikers Bill and Judye. Some old architecture in Sedalia MO at the Escapee rally. Our son Steven and his bride Tanya and of course the lovely Susy. Two shots of our son JD and his band opening the Kansas City Blues Fest 2009. Then Pa's pride and joy Isabelle chowing down the McNuggets.
