2012-09-09 G&G Rally Custer SD Part 2

Ok, this is my impersonation of Indiana Jones
Man I wished I had bought that hat !!

We spent plenty of time with friends
Greg & Judy
Stan & Connie
Bryan & Lee
Some scenes from our scenic tour!!
Sometimes my box has some dull pencils in it
This time we took ALL the scenic tours around Mt Rushmore in one day
We were twisting and turning the the better part of 6 hours
Really surprised these pictures came out since I was just holding the camera out the window and snapping away :)

Turkey was the most abundant wildlife we saw while in South Dakota
Others in our group were more serious about getting pictures of the wildlife
and were out early mornings to get some pics.

The last day of the GandG rally we had Buffalo Burgers provided by Larry B
Buffalo is a lot leaner than cow and they were delicious
Thanks Larry B !!!!
In another 20 years or so the Crazy Horse sculpture should be finished
You could fit all of the presidents from Mt Rushmore on this sculpture

We had a surprise visit from the city of Custer with thanks to Murray.... General Custer
He provided a lot of information I had never heard before
Custer was a rising star during the Civil War.  He was not noted for always doing correct thing in battle but
nobody doubted his bravery.
General Custer did not hate Indians and even tried to prevent their mistreatment by traders, miners and the US Government.
In the end, he was a soldier and followed his orders to his death

At the end of the night lighting ceremony on 9/11, all current and ex military were invited up to the stage to introduce themselves and tell what branch of the military they served

Next we move on to Hermosa South Dakota for the annual Buffalo Roundup
