2012-09-09 G&G Rally Custer SD

We arrived at Custer's Gulch campground on Sunday afternoon

After we arrived there was only one other Rig still to arrive
The Park was completely full and there were already some large gatherings around the campround
New and Renewed friends and ones we had just traveled with.
Plans were being made for the week because there was so much to choose from

Our plans were (not in order of importance)
Pot Luck dinners throughout the week and the final Buffalo Burger Dinner Saturday
Wander around often and stopping to visit
1880 Train ride from Hill City to Keystone ( oh yeah .. shopping :()
Mount Rushmore 9/11 night lighting
Wild Life and Scenic routes around the Black Hills
Many also enjoyed a tour of Ellsworth Air Force Base (Darn we did not make this trip)

Gary Thurman gave instructions on Dutch Oven Cooking
Unfortunately the Black Hills of South Dakota are in an Extreme Fire Danger Alert status
and there could be no charcoal or open flame cooking

The Pot Luck dinners were a huge success
Here Murry was explaining some of the activities planned
and welcoming us to the G&G Rally

This group met up to take the scenic 1880 train ride from Hill City to Keystone

All along the train ride through the Black Hill mountains you could see other mountains in the distance
and abandoned telegraph poles that were installed in the 1800s

We did some shopping and of course, as custom at HH rallies, we
ate and solved world problems

Time to board the train back to Hill City
