2012-07-27 Marengo OH 2012-07-29 Cleveland OH

We traveled 196 miles today and stopped in a little town  called Marengo
This is about 25 miles north of Columbus,OH
Miss Susy always looks fresh even after pulling 4hrs
She gets home set up in a hurry
Maybe it has something to do with the wee nap we take
as soon as we are set up !
Looking our the dining room window gives me a nice view of the shooting range
We were told it is the 3rd largest clay target range in the US.
The shooting stations stretch out on the road every bit of 1/4 mile
The range has several meeting place along the range
If it is your thing you can even park next to the range wit Full hookups

We drove 210 miles and pulled into the KOA in streetsboro,OH
It's a 40 minute drive to downtown
 Oh yeah !!
Much nicer weather than back in KC
Hope ya all have your sun screen and raincoats ready :)

The weather was cloudy and dismal all the way from Indy
but the sun came out as we got to Cleveland
We got parked at a KOA and decided to take a Sunday drive
and scope out the parking downtown for tomorrow's run
to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
The Rock & Roll Hall is located on the shores of Lake Erie
Next door is the NASA center and Science Museum

The Rock & Roll Hall is obviously a big deal here
As we drove through downtown there were giant guitars along the streets

When we arrived there were baracades everywhere!
I had read there was a Kenny Chesney concert at the Cleveland Browns football stadium
but had forgotten it was today !!

As we left the stadium area we wondered across Lakeside Avenue
and ended up at beautiful Edgewater State Park

This place was packed but it was awesome
You can see the Brown's stadium behind the fishermen

Lots of skiers and Ski-dos out today
Next to the park is a large marina with tons of sailboats
Really Impressive was the cleanliness of the park

Ok - Tomorrow is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Cya then

2012-07-25 thru 27th Indianapolis

Well our entire reason for traveling to Indianapolis Indiana
The "Go Ape' zip lining facility
We visited the facility to get info on how to dress and what to expect
We watched as zippers were given their safety training before
going out on the course
Looks real easy when your only 2 feet off the ground right :)

We followed them out onto the real course and things were much more interesting

Unfortunately we never made it out ourselves
No we did not Chicken out !!!
This day was the only day that it did not rain or thunder storms were not forecast
They have a strict no refund if you are rained out
At $55 per person we did not risk it
Wouldn't you know it, the worst we got was a little shower
We still plan on doing this but need to move on for now
While at the park we went to the nature center and saw these hummingbirds

The Indiana State Fair starts August 5th and set up was in full swing
Nothing was set up when we arrived but by the time we left the could have opened the gates

Susy took a shine to this character
She says it was whimsical and besides Orange is her favorite color
I offered to buy myself a bright orange leisure suit just to please her
She said it was NOT the same ??? :(

One of the features of the fair is the races
There will be sulky and thoroughbred races

There were hundreds of MiniKart racers pouring in
This is a big deal at the state fair
Pretty cool looking karts
Wish we could see them run - I was told they will run about 50 mph

Seems like many moons ago, I would travel to Indy and stay across the street from
the HUGE Lucas Oil Stadium - Home of the Colts
You could fit 2 Arrowhead stadiums in here !
Only once in 2009 did I visit this stadium during the NFL combine
I met then Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards and found out why he was considered a "Players Coach"
He was extremely warm and put you at ease right away
Of course I believed his BS about the chiefs winning that season

Nest Stop Marengo Ohio and the 3rd largest Clay target shooting range in the US
Cya soon

2012-07-21 Springfield IL

2012-07-21 thru 24th Springfield IL

While in Springfield IL we visited the Abraham Lincoln Memorial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery

It is very impressive
It was gratifying to see so many younger people visiting

Abe's copper bust outside the tomb has a shiny nose
At some point it became good luck for those that touch it
We saw many people pose for pictures while rubbing Abe's nose
This tradition keeps the copper from corroding and keeps it shiny

Throughout the tomb there are sculptures that depict different
times in Abraham's political life

We also visited the Illinois Vietnam war memorial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery

What a GREAT surprise!!
We got a call from our good friends Terry & Linda from the KC area.
They were 30 miles from Springfield, IL, on their way to Chicago and wanted to stop by and visit....
It was Soooooo kewl —
Susy has been busy collecting cute / humorous little things

Broad Ripple Arts & Entertainment District Indianapolis
This are is like the Waldo area in KC
Lots of things going on and plenty of live music

Next Stop Indianapolis Indiana
