2012-09-05 Michell SD

Coming across South Dakota we saw several large wind farms
A good idea since the wind always seems to be blowing
I was surprised to find there are many archeological digs in SD
Not only of ancient Indian sites but there are many extinct animals found in SD

We were told we had to visit the "Corn Palace" in Mitchell SD
The exterior is made using mostly ears of corn but also includes other part as well
The Corn Palace started out as a place for farmers to showcase their crop
The exterior is redone nearly every year with a different theme
The interior is lined with pictures af most of the changes dating back to the 1800s

We toured with our friends Bryan & Lee and Stan & Connie

At the center is a gymnasium where many local and regional sporting events are held

They were building a new mural while we were visiting
We talked to the crew and discovered that they have to do continual repairs
It seems that birds like to eat corn .. Go Figure !?

Tried to talk Miss Susy into doing her famous Marilyn Monroe impression
but she was having none of that
Off to Wall SD tomorrow, famous for Wall Drugs
Cya soon
